في العام 1972 قامت الجمعية بانشاء أول مدرسة تمريض في لبنان الجنوبي، في بلدة تبنين، كانت خطوة رائدة على طريق مساعدة المجتمع القروي. وقد تخرج من هذه المدرسة 120ممرضا من الجنسين، مارسوا مهنة التمريض في شتى أنحاء لبنان. ومع بداية الحرب الاهلية التي اندلعت في العام 1975، اضطرت المدرسة الى الاقفال القسري .

وقد أشارت الإحصاءات الرسمية، التي نُشرت في العام 2001، إلى وجود نقص كبير في عدد الممرضات والممرضين المحترفين في لبنان، لذا قررت الجمعية، استناداً الى خبرتها السابقة، البدء بمشروع جديد لانشاء مدرسة مهنية في جنوب لبنان، بهدف المساهمة في سد هذا النقص وتقديم دعم فعلي وفعّال لطالبي العلم. 


 History <

In 1972 JAWA established its first nursing school in the southern Lebanese village in Tibnine, which at the time was considered a pioneering move. The school went on to graduate 120 nurses from both sexes, who subsequently served in hospitals throughout the country. With the onset of civil strife in 1975 the school was reluctantly forced to close its doors. Official statistics published in 2001 highlighted a serious shortfall in the number of trained nurses in Lebanon. Based on these statistics and their previous proven experience JAWA decided to initiate a new project establishing a vocational training school in the south of Lebanon to combat this shortage.(See Appendix 1- License of Tibnine Nursing School) d

With the offering granted from Mr. Ali Ghandour, a study was performed by the Faculty of Nursing at the American University of how to rehabilitate the school; which empowers our students to pursue academic study at distinctive universities, to obtain a BSN or Bachelor of Nursing; such as the College of Rafik Hariri for Nursing, at the American University.
